The native red oak of the Edwards Plateau: smaller than Shumard, thriving on limestone, drought tolerant, with reliable red fall colour. Often multi-trunked in nature and grown here as a single-trunk tree.
Where it is used: Hill Country and Central Texas residential and commercial sites on thin alkaline soil.
